FAQ
Wedding
How long will you be in Tamarindo? When should I come?
Jesse and I plan to be in Tamarindo from Saturday, July 26th until Sunday, August 3rd. You are welcome to join us for as long or as short a time as you'd like. We want this to be a vacation for you, too!
Can I bring my children to the wedding?
We kindly request that our wedding ceremony and reception remain an adult-only event. We hope you understand and can make arrangements accordingly.
Location
Why Costa Rica? Have you been?
Jesse and I have not been to Costa Rica before, but it's right on brand for our wedding to be a new adventure. I've always dreamed of my wedding being a vacation with all my family and closest friends. After lots of research and recommendations, Costa Rica just felt right. We've heard nothing but incredible things—its stunning natural beauty, wildlife, and the warmth of its people. Plus, it's got endless activities and the infrastructure to host our rowdy bunch. We're excited to share this beautiful destination with you and create unforgettable memories together!
Are there any cultural norms I should be aware of?
It's polite to greet people with a friendly "hola" or "buenos días." Tipping is appreciated but not mandatory; a 10% service charge is often included in restaurant bills. Respect for the environment is also important, so make sure to follow local guidelines for waste disposal and conservation.
What's the weather in August?
In August, Tamarindo experiences the rainy season, also known as the "green season." The landscape is lush and vibrant thanks to the rain. Temperatures average in the mid-80s, with frequent afternoon or evening showers and occasional heavy rains. However, mornings are often sunny and clear, with high humidity due to the increased rainfall.
What is the local currency, and can I use US dollars?
The local currency is the Costa Rican colón (CRC), but US dollars are widely accepted in Tamarindo. It's still a good idea to have some local currency for smaller purchases and tips. Credit cards are also commonly accepted at most businesses.
Are there ATMs available in town?
Yes, there are several ATMs available in Tamarindo where you can withdraw both Costa Rican colones and US dollars. Most ATMs accept international credit and debit cards, but it's a good idea to notify your bank of your travel plans to avoid any issues.
